The wesak festival.

Wesak Festival is a religious festival.  It is a festival of the Buddhists. It is fall on the Full Moon day of May. Load Buddha’s Birth, attainment of Buddha hood and Parinibbana occurred on this day. Buddhists get ready for this festival about three Month earliar. They whitewash the temples make wesak lanterns, practice religious plays, organize dancelasetc on the wesak poya day. People get up early in the morning. Some people go to the temple to observe sil; the oters decorate their house and gardens. Then in the evening they go to temple to worship Loard Buddha. They accord alms to Bikkus, to the devotees. Who have observe sil and to the poor. They perform a lot of meritorious deeds. They go to see the wesak celebrations at night. They enjoy themselves watching religious plays, the illuminations of pandals. Wesak lanterns etc. Thus the Buddhists as well as the non Buddhists, the young and old enjoy on this day.

Hindus and Buddhists, Muslims and Christians alike, rever this mountain as a holy place. The shrine is only a tiled roof raised upon four pillars. It is open on all four sides to every wind that blows. I have seen there, people of half a dozen races, with as many languages and at least for religions. To Buddhists it is the foot print of the Gautama Budda. They call the mountain simply sripada, the sacred foot print. Hindus believe it as god Shiva, s foot print. Muslims believe it as the footprint of the prophet Adam. Christians believe the mark to have been imprinted by the foot of the father Adam. Another common Name is, Samanala kanda,, the hill of god Saman
